One act of compassion can have the power to change lives and bring hope to a family.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Family Promise of Essex County. We have volunteer opportunities for individuals with various gifts, skills and time availability. There are currently three main ways to volunteer at Family Promise Essex.
- Shelter Program Volunteers from Essex County congregations and organizations support families in Shelter Program by shopping for groceries, making meals, and sponsoring and coordinating community events for FPE families.
- Circle Allies (volunteers) align themselves as friends with a Circle Leaders (persons motivated to move out of poverty), by supporting them for 18 months or more as they move towards economic stability. Opportunities for this kind of volunteering include: listening, supporting, weekly meetings, goal setting, problem solving, and celebrating accomplishments. Online and in-person training is provided to all Allies. Volunteers are also needed to join Resource Teams (Jobs & Education, Services, Community, Recruitment, Big View), to facilitate special workshops, assist with youth programming, and provide weekly meals which support the Circle Leaders and Allies. Visit the Circles page to learn more .
- General Support – for fundraising, day center tasks, and essential needs drives.
